## Mathematic Symbols

The following are the frequently use mathematics symbol. you may copy
and paste this symbol into your post for the purpose of discussion.
~ ≠ ≡ ≤ ≥ ± ÷ ≈ ² ³ °
µ Δ Σ α β γ δ θ λ π ρ σ ∂ ∞
½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞
← ↑ → ↓ √ ∩ ∫

More symbols can be found in the character map. To access to the character map, follow the following steps.

(1) Click on the [Start] button on your lower left corner of your monitor screen.
(2) Click on the [run] button. A window pops up.
(3) Type the word charmap in the window and click [OK].
(4) Choose the font that you want.
(5) Select the character that you want and then click [select] and [copy].
(6) Paste the character into any desired location.

Complicated Mathematics Expression
For a more complicated mathematics expression, you may use the BBCode together with the LaTex language to write your expression. The BBCode for the mathematic expression is

Code: $your LaTex language$
For example, to write 2x + 1/(2x-3), we type

Code:
$2x + \frac{1}{{2x - 3}}$

And the output should be

$2x + \frac{1}{{2x - 3}}$

A comprehensive LaTex guide can be found in Wikimedia's help page. You will find that LaTex language actually is pretty easy and it's fun to learn.

However
you should take notes that the symbol use in wikimedia's tag is the
less and more sign ( "<" and ">") whereas the symbol use in
BBCode is the square brackets ("[" and "]"). Make sure that you use the
square brackets ("[" and "]") for the BBCode in this forum but not the
less and more sign ( "<" and ">").

Another useful tutorial on LaTex is given in http://www.maths.tcd.ie/~dwilkins/LaTeXPrimer/

## 回复： Mathematic Symbols

If you are using MathType as your equation editor, you can translate
your mathematic script into LaTeX by using its build in translator!

Step 1:
Open your MathType, go to the "preferences" tab and click on the "translators...". A window will pop up.

Step 2:
In the translator
window, check the "translation to other language (text)" button, and
then select the translator "TeX -- AMS -- LaTeX" (This is the
translator best suit our forum), and then uncheck the 2 radio button at
the bottom, (As shown in the figure below.) and then click "OK".

Step 3:
Now you can start to
type you mathematics symbol. After completing, highlight the symbol,
right click on the mouse and select "copy" to copy the LaTeX.

Step 4:
Now, goto the forum,
paste the LaTeX (right click the mouse and click paste or use the
shortcut Control 'V") into the forum. After that, highlight the LaTeX
script, insert the BBCode by clicking on the "math" button.

That's all. You may click "preview" to see your result.
